Vegans. . . Near vegatarians. . .

What is your source for B12?

Supplement, enriched grain or minimum meat?

Brewers Yeast and a B12 supplement two or three times a week.

I cut back from daily supplementation after my results came back 1936 pg/mL for B12 during a physical.

I do one drop of this B12 solution 1-2 times per week. Sometimes I also consume beverages with B12 added, such as non-dairy milks and energy drinks. I need to look into brewer's yeast, I've never tried that.

I was surprised at how little B12 was needed to maintain healthy levels when I did my research into supplementation after going vegan.

I didn't know this was a concern but it looks like between eating dairy and a multivitamin I am covered.

@GdP - The body has huge reserves of B12 (only available from animals) so it takes a long time (several years) for it to become a concern. However, once reserves are depleted, it becomes a big/systemic issue (as does any vitamin deficiency).

I'm not vegetarian/vegan, but I take a multivitamin and eat quite a lot of nutritional yeast. Tastes great on air popped popcorn or in a tofu scramble. It is also a good source of protein for vegans.

I follow this, once a week I chew on 2000 mcg of cyanocobalamin.

In addition to the dramatic problems that can arise from severe deficiency, I would argue that subclinical deficiency is bad as well (perhaps insidiously so), as B12 is involved in certain pathways that reduce homocysteine and oxidative stress... things that contribute/associate to the biggest killers.

Not vegan nor nor vegetarian, but I take a 1000 mcg sublingual methylated B12 supplement (methylcobalamin) 1-2 times per week.

My main vice is plant milk, which is usually fortified with B12. Some plant milk also has vitamin D and omega-3s as a fun bonus. I drink an average of ~150% the RDI of B12 daily. I think nutritional yeast is the canonical answer to this question, but I can't handle the taste.

Just to be extra sure I don't cause myself permanent nerve damage, I have B12 dissolving tabs I take sometimes. One $14 bottle lasts me about a year.

I try not to take supplements / rely on fortified food unless I know exactly why I'm taking it, how I could get it through diet alone, and have a specific reason for why I am not currently relying on my diet for it. B12 meets all these conditions.
