Today the very last $1 for my mortgage was paid off. Yeh!
Thanks you to everyone here, your posts really do help me keep on track (espically when I'm at a low point). Now onto massive savings for ERE!

Congratulations--the day I paid my mortgage off was a very very sweet day. Savor it, preferably with beer!

Congratulations! That's a ways off for me, and I might sell and buy a smaller place when I do retire.

Great!!! Canadian Dream - it's a fab feeling to have done it!!!
@BPA - kind of like what I am doing, getting a smaller place - basically, living off the proceeds of this house when it is sold next year - after all the dividing etc etc - and then living in the 300sq foot that I am now paying off - which will then be paid out
Still working 1 or 2 days a week - by choice - I like to travel extensively

@irukandjisting: That's right. I don't want to move yet because the school where we live is a really good one and full beyond capacity. That bodes well for when I want to sell it though.

Awesome!!! Congratulations!!!
Welcome to the club. So glad to hear you made it. Enjoy the low monthly expenses-totals that are going to start rolling in. It's a great feeling knowing one can now live on so much less $$$. :-)

Just read your column at thestar.com. Bravo! Whereabouts in the maritimes do you plan to vacation? I spend the summer in Cavendish, PEI. I love it there.
