I've been working on getting my husband to ride the scooter instead of the car. I finally won! Today he rode the scooter and promptly crashed it. He's fine, but the Vespa isn't. I think I can put it back together, but I have no hope of him wanting to ride it again.
However, he did express interest in an electric bicycle instead. I tried to do some research on good brands, but got nowhere. Do any of you know about electric bicycles? We are pudgy, unfit, computer geeks. We need a bike that will help haul our heavy (up to 240 lb.) frames up-hill about 8 miles one way to work without getting too sweaty for the office on the way there.
I'd love to hear any experience you've had with e-bikes, good or bad and what you would recommend.

There are some old threads on this.
In general, they're pretty expensive (relative to a gasoline driven moped) for a good motor+battery.
