What's the difference?
What is the difference between sent and outbox?

I think outbox means the recipient has not read it yet, and that it will transition to sent once they do.

I think is harks back to really olden days of dial up. , where you write a reply and it sits in the out box until you "dial up" again, where upon it gets esent
