Re: 2017 Mammal March Madness
Barring upsets, the only real candidates for winning are the Sabertooth cat, the Neanderthal hunting party (how many are in the party!?), or one of the bears depending on what type they are (grizzly?).
Re: 2017 Mammal March Madness
They add a bit of randomness to the process with a 100 sided die. Here are more rules:
Battle outcome is a function of the two species' attributes within the battle environment. Attributes considered in calculating battle outcome include: temperament, diet, social behavior, environment, size, and fight style. After these factors are weighed against each other, the MMM organizers determine probability of one animal defeating another. This is how they develop the seed, or rank, of each mammal. Then a 100-sided die (or random number generator) is rolled with a determined percentage numbers attributed to each animal. For the first round, the battle occurs in the better-ranked species' habitat (home court advantage), but in later rounds, battle location will be random.
Here is the matchup for Wildcard Monday 3/6/17:

Re: 2017 Mammal March Madness
Yeah... once I read some more about how they say it works, I lost some interest. They said one large cat lost because it had won the day before (and would've eaten it's opponent) and thus would not have been hungry against it's current opponent and so would not have attacked.

I think a hundred sided die would pretty much be a sphere. We used to roll a D10 twice to get percentages.
