I have noticed that no one on here seems to post from New Orleans.
It is a city that has always intrigued me. It seems like a very interesting city and is not too big and doesnt get cold winters. It also appears to have a low cost of living and decent income prospects.
Has anyone on here pursued financial independence from New Orleans? How is it?
Personal finance in New Orleans
Re: Personal finance in New Orleans
I lived there three years but spent a whole lot of money eating and drinking. Don't regret it, but I wasn't ERE in the least.
I did have a friend down there who drove a bike everywhere and slept on the floor of a series of cheap apartments, so it is doable.

There are other seasons to worry about too!
If I lived there I would put on 100 pounds. A bit worried about the land sinking, climate change, the Mississippi river, and economy shifting. Great city when I visit, though.

Why would you put on 100 pounds if you lived there? Southern Fried food?
Re: Personal finance in New Orleans
Lots of booze and Southern/Cajun food, firstly. Lack of will or culture to do much exercising or walking in the heat+humidity, secondly.

Are there jobs in New Orleans? I never see any tech jobs posted there at least.
