Just to circle back since I looked up this thread anyway, I have more data on the leangains diet: I have gone from 165/14% at the beginning of the year to 162/10.5% today. Most of the fat loss was in the first 8 weeks, and strength gains have been consistent as well.

How bout the Carb Nite protocol?
http://carbnite.com/
Basically ultra-low-carb, with a bit of carb-heavy once in a while to re-stock and re-build the muscles.

Given how few have adopted it, it's unlikely to have any societal impact.

It's often referred to as OMAD now (One Meal A Day). Also 20:4 IF. Try searching those terms.

'Warrior' morphed into 'OMAD' when they started recommending the diet to breast cancer patients and post-menopausal women. A 16:8 diet is the standard recommendation for those women but 20:4 is considered the gold standard.
