Water storage container repair

Post by Myakka »

A few years ago I had installed some large plastic containers which collect water from my roof.
Now one of them has a hole in it -- like someone forced a nail in the side closer to the bottom of the container than to the top. Bit by bit it is growing bigger.

How do I fix it? Do you know or know of somewhere I can look?

Any patch is best done from the inside, so water pressure pushes the patch against the container wall instead of away from it. If that isn't posdible, I'd try to gorilla glue a pladtic patch on the outside. If posdible I'd do the same from the inside. Rough up the patch and container with sandpaper before gluing.

You could look into plastic welding.

+1 to plastic welding. DH fixed a hole in one of our tanks that way, but you need to do it before the hole gets too large. Lots of instructions and videos online.
