HVAC questions

Post by ThisDinosaur »

Air handler is running, but I can't get the compressor to turn on. How do I find the problem?
Also, how do I locate a zone damper? I've found one of them and have been manually opening it, but I can't find the other one.

Simple problems.....

1. Turn off the unit and reset the circuit breaker then retry it.
2. Bypass the thermostat to determine if it is faulty. If so, replace.

Next step gets more complex.

Thanks for the reply Ego. When I got home after that, the compressor was on without me having to do anything. The following day it was cold out, but when it was hot again there was a clear difference between thermostat set temperature and measured temp. That's why I'm thinking its an issue with the zone dampers or board.

Here we go again. Air handler is on. Compressor is on. The conduit (the copper pipe external to the air handler) is cool to the touch. But no cool air is coming out of the vents. It's gotta be the zone board or the damper. How do I proceed?
