Alarm clocks

I want (not need ) to get an alarm clock. The stupid cell phone is not dependable nor workable. Neither is the sun, which I'm currently relying on. I'm looking for an alarm clock that can do what the one in the link does. Unfortunately, they don't seem to make these anymore?!

(I'm not opposed to carrying this around in my pocket as my only watch. In fact, I used to carry around a travel clock like that. Yo!)

I use the smart phone when traveling.

I use an old Timex LCD chrono-watch when camping. Over ten years old. Works great.

But I tend to wake up whenever the sun comes up anyway. Maybe doesn't happen too often in Chicago in the winter, though.

I have a mechanical dial folding travel alarm clock powered by AA or AAA battery in my fishing pack. Hardshell. Advantage over LCD is increased temperature range since LCDs don't like freezing temps. Found it at the local one-stop-shopping store a few years back. I think it was under $10 and probably over $5.

How do I use it fishing? It's primarily for exploring, so if I hike a long ways, the alarm is set to go off with enough time to hike back before dark (or some other predetermined appointment).

It's very simple and reliable, but too big for a pocket.

How about a dependable/workable cellphone instead (if you use one anyway), why get a separate gadget? I haven't had an alarm clock for 15 years, I just use my dumb phone (the alarm works on most of them even when the phone is switched off)

None of the last three "smart"phones I have owned had working alarms while switched off, so if your battery dies you're late for work!

It needs a new battery and the front of the plastic case has a few little tooth marks from a cat gnawing on it. Otherwise, it works fine. If you're interested, PM and I'll mail it to you.

I've always used my phone, but I switched to using the alarm on my fitbit. I'm enjoying an alarm that doesn't screech at me. I haven't slept through one yet.

I've put some more thought into this, and I'm pretty sure you need a Gold AppleWatch. Probably ~10k, but I think it is both necessary and an efficient use of capital.
