Can't make this one but I'd love to attend the next one!

Sitter has committed! We're coming.

I'll be there. Last time there was an informal giveaway/swap exchange of useful, no longer needed household items. I came empty handed but was the beneficiary of several books. Since then I've unearthed some stuff I'm eager to get rid of which I'll bring along.

* The attempt would be to hold it outside in the backyard (forecast: 89F sunny). If you have folding chairs or similar, please bring them. If you're willing to sit on a blanket, there's no need to bring any. We got plenty.

* Food is potluck (a chance to show your DIY or frugal shopping skills) ... there'll be a propane grill on site.

* Book exchanges are popular, so if you have books you want to give away, bring them along.

* Stuff exchange is less popular, so if you have any in that department, you can bring it but be prepared to bring it home again.

The Danish guy and I will be there. I'll bring veggie burgers since I'm one of the vegetarians. No books this time since I gave the last of my stash away at the last meetup.

Being that I couldn't find suitable veggie burgers during tonight's shopping trip, I will attempt to make something equally tasty for tomorrow's meetup.

Great seeing everyone and meeting new people! Plus, I have my retirement secured with a signed copy of the ERE book. Apparently, there is only one other person out there with Jacob's signature on their ERE book.

Agreed--I had a lot of fun! Thanks to the hosts for the hospitality, the people who brought the tent for the shade, and everyone for the conversation.

Off topic side note: My wife made Lentil sloppy joes last night and they were great!

Also much thanks to our helpful neighbour for supplying chairs and games(*) and AlexK for the canopy without which we'd surely died/hugged the wall/relocated to the basement. Next time I'll do a better job at triangulating the angle to the sun wrt to the height of the house.

(*) This might mark the very first ERE meetup in which games were actually played.

PS: Question: Is anyone interested in playing a game of Squad Leader on some other occasion? Just throwing it out there.

PPS: Since Chicago meetups are becoming a regular thing is there any interest in changing the format of the meetup or adding other meetups where skill-exchange is the primary focus. E.g. a meetup, where the main point is to brew 5 gallons of wine for $10, paint a picture, build a bench out of wood, cook 7 days worth of food in under 30 minutes for less than $20 in Chicago prices, tuning bicycles, etc.
