Some have talked about an east coast meetup. While I do occasionally go the east coast, I don't have any plans this year, so any meetup will be without me.
I still think it's a pretty good idea though, so if anyone wants to arrange it, here's a good place to do it.
All you really gotta do is to pick a date and a place.

How does September 2010 sound to other interested parties? Any proposal in specific dates in September? I can be flexible on the date. I propose that the location be accessible (walking or at most biking distance) from one of Amtrak's Northeast Regional stations.

You could also go with a greyhound hub/station.

Yes, count me in! September can work for me, depending on the date. As for location, the NYC metro area is best for me, but am willing to travel a bit.

I suggest somebody just pick a time and a place [like the Chicago meetup]. Organizing by committee rarely brings about the desired results :-D I'll advertise it on the blog.

Let's make the date Saturday, Sept. 18 @3pm.
Place: Columbus Park, NYC. It's in Chinatown:

Meet near the corner of Mulberry and Bayard. Those interested can head out for dinner afterward.

I'm a strong probable (p > 0.8) for this gig. I'd most likely be taking the Northeast Regional, arriving NYP. Anyone interested in doing an en-route ERE meet-up either/and WAS-NYP before, NYP-BOS after? I often do better thinking on trains; whether that translates to conversing, who knows. ;-)

Sorry to post what may be a silly question, but: What exactly happens at these meetups? Is there a presentation or something, or just a group of people with the same goals hanging out?
I'm always up for hearing other viewpoints and learning...plus I live in New Jersey.
Looking forward to hear more about this!

Well, what happened the first time was that people showed up with a bunch of questions. Then we just started talking and suddenly 5 hours had gone by. I don't think all those questions ever got answered.

West Coast Meetup Transcript/Digest...want it. Bottom-up / emergent organization seems best for something like this.

That sounds like something I would be interested in. I hope I am free.

I will be there! And hi everyone--really enjoying folks' posts, and am intrigued by our commonalities (Myers-Briggs, intelligence, health focus, income).
I proofread Jacob's book and am excited about its imminent release--I started reading it as somewhat of a skeptic, though I had read at least half of Jacob's blog posts, and finished it with a concrete, committed plan to retire in the next five years.
Oh, and I'm 32, a guy, live in New York City, and am an entrepreneur.
