Meetup in the Netherlands
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
I won't be coming. It's too far away for me Next time if it's closer to belgium! Have a nice time.
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
Same, I'm afraid. I had hoped the middle of the Netherlands would be a bit closer to Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Not that I mind the other parts in the least, but public transport is so much better there. I looked it up, but 3 hours one way and 3 hours back might be a bit much. So maybe next time .
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
I would like to join the meeting as well if still possible. Would love to share ideas.
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
Hi,
@Ayanka , Wageningen is easily reached by train from Amsterdam and Rotterdam in about an hour (actually the geographic midpoint of NL is quite close to Wageningen).
We can also move to another place, if that cuts down journey times.

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
So I am probably going to be there, how late will it take place?
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
I think that as it is the middle of the country it is a logical choice. However, it is one hour from Antwerp to Rotterdam by train and 2.5 hours to Ede. This is if none of the trains are late and I miss none and the Antwerp-Rotterdam line is notorious for being late. For me personally it is not worth being in a train for 5 hours in a day, but I also don't want you guys to reschedule to make it easier for me, I knew this could happen when I heard the middle of the Netherlands .
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
Send me all an PM with your email (I still have those from last time) and we can make an email group to discuss the exact details.NickHalden wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2017 1:42 pmSo I am probably going to be there, how late will it take place?
Last time we met up late afternoon till late evening. Something similar now would work for me.
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
So I might have missed it, but when is the meeting?

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
Hi,
so May 27th. Welcome at my place in Wageningen.
Proposed meeting schedule:
around 15:00 arrival
having some cake and talking
if it is hot we can go for a swim in the river Rhine
telling ERE stories and asking questions
making a camp-fire and having some food
leave when you are ready
SUGGESTIONS FOR CHANGES WELCOME
Maybe we can coordinate further particulars by email. I think rube has the email addresses?

Thanks again Simplex for your hospitality!
Have a swim in the Rhine would be wonderful, as it is now pure enough. Hope to see you all.

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
Veel plezier, had het graag bij geweest
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
The meetup last Saturday went ahead.
This meeting was a bit different from the first one. What did we do?
- getting to know each other. That was rather interesting to me, because the real world background of some was very different, and at the same time had many similarities.
- group discussion, mixed with personal experience about the ERE journey and plans for the future
- great food, prepared by everybody
- short cycle tour to the river Rhine for a quick swim
- afterparty in the garden with continuing discussion until it became dark
Looking back, meeting J_ and Ru Be again was great. We could compare how we had fared since the last meetup. And meeting the new participants opened my eyes towards different choices and lifestyles.
Thank you for coming!

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
It sounds like you had fun. And it sounds like it was interesting. Sorry that I couldn't be there.
I came here to update you on my mother-in-law (who is 76 years old): it turns out that she has a relatively benign cancer type of which only few people die. Most people die with it, not because of it. We're glad that it turns out this way. She's recovering from the surgery at home now.

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
Anyone interested in scheduling another meet-up in The Netherlands? The last one was quite fun and almost a year passed by already
Re: Meetup in the Netherlands
A year ago already?! Yes when I am able to make it I am in for it.
