Toronto Meetup - May 10, 2014

Post by JamesR »

Looks like there's been a couple of successful meetups in toronto already.

I'll follow the same format/location.

When: Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2pm
Where: Brookfield Place, near Union station

I'm relatively new to Toronto since January, and would be interested in meeting others and getting ideas on keeping my costs down, dealing with a 9 to 5, etc :)

Let me know if this works for you, open to suggestions.

Hey. I will try to be there if I am in town. I might still be in Edmonton getting my injury checked out.

Ciao!

By the way, I'm curious any of you have found excellent deals on housing/rent.

I'm currently paying $900 for a basement bachelor suite that is a 12 min walk from Yonge/Eglinton (near work). I'm not very impressed with the cost of rentals here heh. Would love to pay half that.

Hey. You can find cheaper 300 sqft bachelors for $700-$800 per month in the Old East York area which is north of the Danforth, east of Pape, and west of Victoria Park.

Here are some sample locations where I found cheaper rent. I am thinking about relocating to that area.

327 Chisholm Ave -- $695
695 Coxwell Ave -- $792
69 Gamble Ave -- $750
240 Cosburn Ave -- $745
470 Mortimer Ave -- $775

These are a few places on my "watch" places to rent. :)

Let me know what you think.

I am not able to make it this time, but hopefully next time :).

Personally I split a two bedroom with a friend/roommate. While between us it is around the same price as the cheapest bachelor listed (that includes utils for me), the convenience of being on the subway line is enough for me to stay put for now.

Hey everyone.

Sorry for the late reply. I was out of the city and didn't have a chance to check the forum. I hope you were able to meet-up. If not, I'm back in town and can set something up.

Cheers!
