Fishing/Hunting/Shooting Buddy Wanted Baltimore/Frederick MD

I have a little experience with fishing, no experience hunting or shooting firearms, but I'm signed up for a hunter safety course in a few months. Looking to get more experience with these activities and a bit of camaraderie, so if there's anyone in the MD area (or even tri-state, VA/PA) who is either a newbie who wants to learn together or an expert willing to teach, let me know. Ideally I want to learn these skills to the point that I can supplement my protein supply, but for the foreseeable future I'm just looking to have fun and develop myself. Thanks.

Thanks for the offer, Jeff. My sister has friends in Kentucky and visits there sometimes. If the opportunity arises for me to hitch a ride down there, I'll take you up on that.

@ffj - That was a blast. If you go again and don't mind suffering another semi-crushing defeat in handgunning (Glocks only since I can't hit a barn with anything else, it's the angle of the handle, you see), I wouldn't mind terribly much [at all] to Greyhound it down there again, even if I do have to spend 5 hours avoiding smalltalk with a Nashville casino employee

BTW I found an article on the Scout in one of my magazines. Want me to mail it to you?

@SW - Obviously if you (or any other forumite) come to Chitown, we can go fishing in the big lake. Or downtown next to Trump Tower. (Not sure I'd eat anything we catch there, but it's all about the attitude ...) I have gear you can borrow.

SW, you have a car, right? 9 hours in the car, +/- $200 for Greyhound to LA (louisville area.)

I'm in Maryland, a little further out than Sparty.

That said, if something like this works out, I could potentially see car pooling.

Yeah, I appreciate the offers but it's a little expensive/far for me to travel (to IL or KY) by myself--though I would consider car pooling. Of course, if there are folks local enough to be interested in carpooling, we could always just, y'know, hang out locally. For fishing if not shooting. I have fishing gear.

If nothing else, can anyone recommend some more specific websites/forums where I might more easily meet local outdoor hobbyists?

@SW I live just upstream of Williamsport Md. There is river access in the development I'm in. Or there is a pretty good canoe float from dam 5 to Williamsport if you're interested.

This topic got me to register. I would even be interested in the road trip to shoot. I did alot of shooting growing up and have a lot of reloaded .38s
