It's amazing how much research is going into gut bacteria these days. The NYT ran several fascinating articles on the topic, including one on DIY fecal transplanting to improve colitis-type diseases. DIY because I think the FDA has now declared said substance a 'drug,' hilariously enough.

Michael Pollan wrote a long piece on the microbiome and how much one treatment of antibiotics affected his own, i.e., decimated his profuse bacterial proliferation. Anyway, this is the 1% we'd all be lucky to be part of.

@Peanut Agreed, there is a lot of interesting stuff coming out. It seems tied in to everything. I'm actually preparing a post on it for my journal, which I'm using more to chronicle things I'm currently researching than for financial updates. Brain Maker by Perlmutter looks interesting and is getting good reviews. I'm trying to work out a cheap bastard way of acquiring a copy, but if you're interested in the topic, that seems like the big current book that's out.
