the long term value of stimulus spending

Post by Riggerjack »

I was looking at a online auction site, and ran across http://m.publicsurplus.com/sms/all,wa/a ... uc=1447573

Of course, I had to bid! A 1994 Dodge neon converted to natural gas? I dug into it further, it is actually a diesel electric hybrid, converted to natural gas!

It turns out there was $500k in grants that went into the making of this car. It went 7600 miles before getting parked in the storage space, the batteries died, the natural gas cylinder expired, and it sold for just over 2 cents on the dollar.

I was willing to spend $1026 for this unique boondoggle, but someone else was willing to spend $1051. I am both disappointed, and relieved.

Yeah, I'm tempted to try finding a TRS-80 occasionally. Then I think of storing it, and the temptation disappears...
