Great video...

I've been trying to plan an "ultimate" adventure for myself now for over a month. While I plan to have many adventures, I guess I'd like to have one that trumps them all. Anyways, ideas have flowed freely but I've been somewhat disappointed after doing some research that my ideas have been completed before..certainly wouldn't take anything away from anything I do but it seems to have a small effect on my feeling/thinking etc.

"I think Daddy just hit the wall!"

The whole transcript is something that should be posted by the bathroom mirror but this

"I try to collect moments. I step back and watch the movie that is my life for just a second, because it’s easy to miss the good stuff, the magic, when it happens. But I try not to. I try really hard to realize it when it’s amazing, and even when it’s not."

is magic.

If that doesn't make you want to rock climb then..........

Great video!

This documentary is available for free until 11 PM EST tonight...

Two friends who love surfing find a remote beach somewhere north of the Arctic Circle. They spend months there (mainly winter), after building a house just off the beach out of washed up trash. Daily activities include surfing, snowboarding, paragliding and collecting trash on the beach. In their short time there, they end up collecting three tons worth of trash. I really enjoyed this.

Note:The house they build is quite remarkable.

Edit: Also, they spent a very small amount to fund this. Only $5 on food with their only other purchase being some batteries. The rest of the food was obtained for free since it was expired.

Iran: one woman's solo motorbike tour
On the road, even with a headscarf, she stood little chance of blending in. “It was as though I were an alien beamed down. On the whole, regular people in the street were surprised but friendly. They don’t see many Westerners, and it’s rare to see a woman on her own, and even rarer to see one on a motorbike.

“I was run off the road a lot of the time; at first I thought people were trying to mow me down, or Islamists; and it turned out they just wanted to give me bags of pomegranates.”

and

“Once you are there, you can be overwhelmed to the point that sometimes you just need to hide in a hotel for the night. "

This one doesn't really fit other than to provide a counterbalance.

That was good, Ego.

Good for Patagonia. Encouraging people to use what they have rather than buy all kinds of crap tomorrow (Black Friday).

I have been preaching to my kids this weekend about the human suffering that surrounds high priced, stylish, consumer items and being a producer versus a consumer of items. I even made an eight way flow chart about high priced basketball shoes. After a while, they glaze over and get that far away look..... DD wants a North Face jacket. Dear old Dad's rattling was getting stale. I had not watched this whole video yet so I sat us down and took it in. The video surely helped convey the message I was trying to send. ;)

I often wonder what feeds you and others scour to find these gems! I have shown several people the RSRV channel and watch the "Awesome" video every time I visit this thread.

Interestingly, Swrve is what Patagonia aspires to be with that video. BIFL cycling gear.

Risk and Reward

Peter Croft is a legend and pioneer of free soloing, the much-storied pursuit of climbing without a rope. Peter carved his name into the history books in Yosemite and has been a hero figure for so many, including world-renowned free soloist, 28-year old Alex Honnold. Alex and Peter will give a glimpse into what they do, why they do it and what's next in the world of free soloing.

Probably my greatest regret in life is that I gave up the violin as a teen. One of the few possessions I've kept through the many moves is my grandfather's violin. While I may not play an equivalently challenging piece as Chopin's first Ballade in the video below, I will play that violin again.... with some measure of skill.

Here Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger shows his determination to re-learn the piano.

How to make a living as a professional adventurer.

http://andrewskurka.com/2012/how-i-make ... dventurer/
What is just as effective as making money? A: Not spending money.

I live on little. When I first became a full-time adventurer, my finances dictated that I do. Now, I’m stuck firmly in my frugal ways. I only buy what I need, usually only when it’s on sale. I rent month-to-month so I can avoid paying rent when I’m gone for extended periods.

He actually still offers guided trips. I believe he added even more to his schedule this year. I think I may be interpreting your sentence wrong tho..

Alastair Humphreys also has some good info on this topic somewhere on his blog.
