Re: RealID and lack of state compliance
The link to the Real ID act, in the link you provide, gives you the link to a list that answers your question George.
http://www.dhs.gov/real-id-enforcement-brief
So there was no need to ask, only a need to read and click on the links.
Or did you have some other purpose in asking about this? Like, what do people think about having to comply? There is always a choice, in this case, you can choose to be able to fly or not be able to fly.

There's a difference between current status and future plans. Oregon has specifically taken a stance to not get there.
Re: RealID and lack of state compliance
Cato put out a comprehensive report: http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/f ... _web_3.pdf . The state-by-state analysis starts on page 6.
It's been in the news here (NY) recently, since the state got another 1 year extension on its exemption. But it's not really an issue that is too prominent in political debate, so I'm unsure which way things would go if DHS stops with the extensions. If one day everyone needs a passport to fly to Florida, would the people complain to Washington or to the DOT?

That's fine George but I'm still waiting to here what your point is. Why ask the question? What does it matter to you what the answer is?George the original one wrote:There's a difference between current status and future plans. Oregon has specifically taken a stance to not get there.

Then you can keep on waiting. You're not a US citizen, so it can't possibly be of interest to you.

I have a passport anyway. I never go anywhere so I may as well use it for something.
