Hey everybody,
Until now, I've been making my internet purchases of bicycle tool and components from Nashbar, Amazon, REI or the manufacturers. I'm wondering where else you buy from? What have been your experiences with customer service, etc.? I need a list of trusted sites. Forester in Effective Cycling refers to catalogs -- does anybody still get printed catalogs? Which ones?
Thanks,
Learning
list of websites for buying bicycle components and tools
Re: list of websites for buying bicycle components and tools
There is one huge catalogue that nearly all of the bike shops and online businesses use. I can't remember the name now. Some of the online companies will mail you catalogues. I forget which ones.
There are a ton of online bike sites.. Here are some:
totalcycling (irish or something.. sometimes has really good prices)
probikekit (british. sometimes really good prices, depends on exchange rates)
performancebike (similar to nashbar, same company)
coloradocyclist
excelsports (boulder)
competitivecyclist (can be pricey)
There were about 5-6 more that I used but it's been a while and I can't remember the names. Some more may come to me later.

http://www.niagaracycle.com (this is where I buy all my parts/components)

Somewhat related... but I broke one of the spokes on my folding bike. Anyone know if it's possible to buy a couple replacement 165mm (assuming I measured correctly) spokes? I can only seem to find them in large quantities which ends up not being cheap... I just need one!

http://www.bikeparts.com/ Good coverage and service.
A how to faq for everything. If you're not sure of how to, this is the place.

Iwantless:
Any good bike shop will sell you the spoke you need. Last time (a long time ago) I bought some, they were about $1.00 ea.

I think you mean QBP: qbp.comThere is one huge catalogue that nearly all of the bike shops and online businesses use.
I like pricepoint.com for consumables like tubes, chains, brake pads, cables. They also have good prices on last year's parts, for example I just bought a SRAM X5 derailler for half the bike shop price because it was last year's color.

one more to add to the list:
http://www.treefortbikes.com/
this is also a bike shop, which I like as they've done a pretty good job of putting everything they use online: little as well as big parts (need a ferrule? they've got em).
also they price match and have a pretty handy blog.
