The movie is about an hour. Interesting watching him try and live without money by a combination of homesteading and bartering with parishioners.

Re: Resources and recommend watching
I've watched a few videos featuring Russell Brand lately and he has a very similar mindset to ERE. Anti-advertisements, news, destruction of the planet, celebrity worshiping etc.
"I'm glad that I have these heroes (Ghandi, Che Guevara, Malcom X, Jesus) that represent values outside of our popular culture and I urge all of you to choose heroes as well. Because if you don't choose heroes they will be chosen for you and they will not represent values that empower you but powers that enslave you. Ideas that enslave you."
The whole thing is good IMO but here's a great section related to ERE from his new comedy program Messiah Complex. From 50:30 to 1:27:15
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Op8PbxaCer4#t=3030
WARNING Highly graphic content. Fair amount of sexual and profane language. If you tend to get offended by either, you probably shouldn't watch.

@jennypenny Thanks for posting. I've watched a couple episodes so far..great stuff. The Klune family is pathetic. Makes me think that a lot of people today wouldn't be able to handle living under these conditions.

Man builds a house out of his woodland: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08jnUX-prfs
Ben seems like true EREr. Not only has he built his own house, he grows his own food and runs a business selling wood/charcoal.

The Secret of Happiness -- or how we can make our own and some great arguments against consumerism:
http://www.ted.com/talks/dan_gilbert_as ... e_we_happy
Basic scientific reality at 3:00 -- don't fall for the impact bias -- getting what we want usually doesn't make us as happy as we thought it would. New thing -- maybe three months max.
Amusing highlight at 7:40 about people who found happiness after negative experiences.
Great quote at 9:10: "A shopping mall full of Zen monks is not going to be particularly profitable because they don't want stuff enough."

@dragline--I have so many questions about that video/topic, but this isn't the thread for that discussion. You once sent me a link to another video about choices that also emphasizes how choice can make us unhappy.
