As the old cliché goes, love hits when you least expect it.

I started dating a ERE-compatible guy about 4 weeks ago. I never thought I'd find someone like him in my hometown.

It was a blind first date for me as he had messaged me online without a face picture; but when I saw him for the first time my heart fluttered. It started jumping more during our coffee date when he mentioned that he was a 4th-year full-time student supporting himself via a 30-hour part-time job to avoid graduating with debt. Finally, he won me over when he told me that he planned on saving lots of money for a few years after graduation so that he travel the world. (The tattoo didn't hurt either.)

Not only that but he also fits the INTJ profile. His personality is so different from my previous ENTP boyfriend. I can say that I find the orderliness and the introspection a refreshing change. (I am INFJ myself).

In any event, I know that it is a little soon to be looking into the future but I hope this relationship works out. It would be so nice to be able to share my life and to progress towards ERE with someone special who also has those common goals.

He inspires and motivates me. My job doesn't look so bad and stressful anymore compared to his 70-hour plus school and work week. Having him around makes working 5 more years seem like a walk in the park!

    Wish me luck.

    Congrats and good luck!

Much like being with the wrong person just drags you down, being with the right person just makes everything a little more joyous and easier. Glad to hear things have looked up for you :)

Good luck Pooablo! And don't worry about the future--just enjoy him (I think ERE's worry too much about the future sometimes).

BTW, I'm a sucker for tats myself. I guess their appeal crosses party lines, so to speak :)

Wishing you all the luck in the world. Isn't it amazing when you finally meet someone who has the same values and dreams

    Someone who actually "gets it"

Good for you. I agree with jennypenny...we do worry about the future a little too much.

Timely and relevant for me, thanks everyone for these posts. I've been dating more recently, and I should definitely pay less attention to whether they're FI compatible or not.

One personal note while I'm here, there's this one guy I've seen a couple times who's a computer engineer but drives a beat up old truck...promising ;-)

I once got points from a delightful young lady that I was dating for driving a used Ford Taurus rather than a flashy, expensive ride. Later, after the brief relationship had ended and as she was reaching her late 30s, she offered to draft a contract and pay me for a sperm donation. I declined the offer.
