    Fellow forum members Bigato, Buzz and I have started a new blog that's strongly related to ERE.

    We're calling it SkillsFIRE, and its focus is developing skills that will aid early retirement, as well as a broader focus on personal improvement in general.

    Check it out, and let us know if you have any suggestions. We're also looking for new authors. So, if the topic interests you and you have something to say, PM us and we can add you as a contributor.

    Just added on the sidebar. But I was already subscribed via Google Reader (that's how I know the content is good, I subscribed to my own blog). Not sure if you need anything else.

    Before it's too late. Think very carefully about how to name your Categories.

    That's a good point. Once they're named, there's no going back...

    Would it be difficult to make it possible to subscribe via email? I personally prefer this over RSS feeds, as I read blogs on various computer systems.

    Many thanks, great idea.

    If you have a wordpress account, you can "subscribe" to the blog which will send an e-mail alert every time there is a new post (depending on your settings)

    I would also suggest avoiding the dated naming scheme for links and just use the name of the post as the link name.

    i.e. http://skillsfire.com/must-have-personal-development-skills

    The only reason to have a dated naming scheme is if you plan on having thousands of posts with the potential for exact title matches. Wordpress will even fix this though by putting "-2" at the end of the title though...

    Just a thought.

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

    How is this configured on a blog served from wordpress.com? I don't see any options for permalinks.

    Neat! Reading it now.

    Hope you don't mind me posting this, but I have a blog too: http://financialanarchist.tumblr.com

    Despite the name of the blog, I tend to go on "girly" financial rants once in a while, so please excuse that haha. I'm going to start a journal in here soon, and it'll be a straight copy paste from the blog.

    I've also bought the domain name. Ugh I should just switch it to the domain name, it takes like two seconds.

    @m741, @bigato @buzz, consider this thread HIJACKED ;D

    Well, well! Congratulations and the Best of luck! It looks very nice. I also like the focus subjects.

    Good Work, you three amigos ;-)!

    Here's a cool title idea connected with the "Western genre": "SkillsFIRE -- Where the Three amigos teach you to FIRE"! :-D

    Given to you for FREE!

    @m741 - If you have access to the Dashboard (dunno if that's the case with wordpress.com), it's under Settings->Permalinks where you should pick Custom Structure (/%postname%.html)

    @Jacob,
    That option is missing in the "el cheapo", aka free wordpress blogs such as ours (mine is free too, and that was one of the first things I tried to do ;-) )

    LiquidSapphire, I use google.com/reader for this. It works on any device with a web browser and you don't have to worry about synchronizing anything.

    I'll second the Google Reader suggestion. It's nice that it's available on my laptop, desktop, and work machine.
