Okay, so I'm no kid. However, I have kids (5), and I want them to be free. My daughter (23)is fully on board with ERE. She and I live with the youngest of my sons. He's 17 years old. We sold our car in July and have not looked back. She rides her bike everywhere. I am having trouble fixing my front tire, So I'll walk until I can figure that big boy out. People think we are either insane or poor.
I'm in nursing school, and she's supporting us at the moment. We have a lease until Jan. We are looking for much cheaper digs.
I have farmed, massaged, built a 19 foot, long strip built kayak.
I can do a lot, and have done a lot, so I may chime in now and again.
    Hello from Eastern North Carolina.

Welcome and best of luck on your journey to ERE. If you don't start now, then when? I think now is better than later.

    Welcome Beth, from another 49-yr-old!

It will be interesting to hear more of your progress as yours is not a typical path. How long until nursing school is finished? Are you intending nursing to be the next career? What size of town are you living in and do you like NC?

Well, oddly enough, I wanted to go into nursing because I love rib's. The kind you eat. I am a BBQ rib groupie. So I thought travel nursing would get me out and about. Also, all my children will be out of the house. I did also need another career, since my career was marriage, and that ended in divorce.
School will be done in 15 months. I enjoy school, but when I work on my clinical rotations, I know I'm home. I love the environment, the people, the job.
As for NC, I live in a very old town 300 years old, New Bern. The population is around 30 grand. It's right on two rivers. Very nice place, not too expensive, and pretty temperate.

And jzt83, you are so right. Now is the time. I did really hesitate when we got rid of the car. Having a car for more that 30 years and then not to have one was kind of scary.
    Take care!
