Re: wolf's journal

My lifestyle hasn't changed very much in the few years. The biggest contributing factor was going car-free. I sold it 2016, right around the time, when I knew of ERE. It was a coincidence or not. I don't know. I had the idea of selling the car before I knew of ERE. Then I read Jacob's blog and the d...

Re: wolf's journal

Your expenses have now consistently stayed under 1 JAFI for over three years, right? To answer your first question @classical_Liberal: It depends. I'd like to be transparent with that, in order to have a fair comparison/view If I only count my real expenses, I'm at 0.66 JAFI. (that is what I report...

Re: wolf's journal

I saw a documentary about smartphone / internet addiction. It was based around consumerism, advertisement, thought/feeling manipulation, etc. Then I reflected my smartphone behavior. And then I gave it a try. After some days not using the smartphone, I switched it on again in order to watch a video ...

Re: wolf's journal

I've downsized from a Smartphone to a Dumbphone for a week now. I started to switch the words. So the Smartphone is now the new Dumbphone. And the Dumbphone is now the new Smartphone (in my understanding). Therefore I started a Dumbphone Detoxing challenge. I'm aiming to get an awareness of the usag...

Re: wolf's journal

What hold's me away from wanting to manage people? Well, I guess, my experiences so far within my company, within the last 10 years. Those were not great at all. Team leads had to manage topics either they had resources or not. That leads to a lot of responsibility which could influence the time off...

Re: wolf's journal

So far my career path alternated between being a specialist and being a project manager every few years. First I started on the path of a specialist in a certain field of work. Second, when team leader saw and trusted into skills, they placed me in project management roles. It has been twice so far ...

Re: wolf's journal

I reviewed my investment strategy. I'm focusing on creating a buy and hold portfolio. And I don't want to try market-timing again. Asset allocation of invested money should be: 15% gold, 25% bonds, 60% stocks. That's the asset allocation I want to achieve, whenever I stop earning a salaried income f...

Re: wolf's journal

Since the beginning of a new project at work, I work pretty much. The project at work began last year in November. Since then I worked many more hours, than contracted. Of course I get paid to work overtime or I could take them to work less in the future. Unluckily due to so many hours spend for wor...

That really sounds great 2b1s! I'm a long-term follower of your journal, and will be so in the future. Looking forward to read about your different kind of lifestyle in Poland, in contrast to working in US and traveling in Portugal. How does all of that change/influence your web-of-goals?

Re: wolf's journal

That helps cL, because it gives another view on investing in life overall. I didn't include explicitly #1 and #2 into my investment strategy. Of course I was aware of those aspects, but I didn't focus on it as intensely as I did with AA, SWR, stock/ETF screening, country diversification, etc. (#3). ...
