Re: Next Copenhagen meet-up

Hi jay-p, great that you found us! That makes us 10 for the meetup. I will send you my address in a pm. Part of the agenda at this meetup is that everybody will contribute with 10 minutes of whatever they want to share or discuss. I suppose (from knowing the people who will attend) that there will b...

Re: Atlas Shrugging

Phone-free sounds like a wise move. Except that I use my phone as watch, alarm clock, map/gps, dictionary, notebook on the go, compas, wifi hot spot for my pc etc. Thus, if I'd ditch my phone, I'd have to buy a brunch of new gadgets ...

Re: the dollar journal

Oh, here is some good news for you then. An owners association in Denmark can no longer force you to pay for their cabel tv. That law has been enforced since last year. Just write to your house administrator and cancel your subscription. If - for whatever reason they refuse - you can send a complain...

Re: A wiki page for jacob/ERE

Nice initiative with the Danish JLF wikipedia page. However, I guess someone needs to point out that it is not written in real Danish. There are broken and corrupt sentences, wrong use of words and grammar and quite some Gibberish. Also, it needs to be localized to a Danish audience (i.e. every stud...

Great with another journal from Denmark! Looking forward to following you. But don't you have any pension savings at all? If so, you should be able to start withdrawing them 5 years before official pension age (in your case 63), thus you would have a much shorter period to bridge.

Re: Moving to Spain dilemma

1. If you stoped working, why bother with your medical licence? 2. If you enjoy Spain, why don't you just sublet your condo and go there for another 3-month stay like very soon? No need to make any final decisions right away. 3. Are you learning Spanish? If not, I suggest you start now. Even if your...

Ask you dad out for a walk (or a drive or a fishing trip or whatever). Be honest to him with your frustrations about your mom. Ask him how he copes and ask him for advice.

Re: Next Copenhagen meet-up

There is another Copenhagen meetup on Sunday 4 November at 14.00. In fact we are a cool group of dedicated EREs who meet every couple of months in each others homes in the greater Copenhagen area. At a typical meetup, we are between 8 and 12 people. Some are very regular and some have only shown up ...

Re: What's the best option for sleeping warm in winter? A sleeping bag?

My approach to your situation would be (and is in my own life) to skip the sofa, get a well-insulating pad and sleep on the floor. Your back will be forever grateful for that solution. I have a Therm-A-Rest Z-Lite pad and I can easily sleep on it down to at least 3° C without feeling any cold from b...

Off topic, but I don't think anyone needs 5 posts to send PMs. At least I got a PM from yet another journalist who had only one tiny post.

@BL, oh so many things. I got interested in natural movement and this lead to translation of a book; I have done yoga forever and got involved in launching a yoga school; I have a friend who sells vegan food at street fairs and last weekend I helped her out and got all the left overs, which is more ...

Re: Just About There...Maybe...

Welcome and congratulations! Just enjoy your freedom from employment and engage in some great projects/hobbies/studies and soon some of it might generate small income streams. At least for me it has been like this. As you cannot predict the future anyway and you seem careful with your spendings, foc...

Sounds great to me with all the extra free time you've gotten. I would say to enjoy it fully and deal with the money business later.

Re: Journal From A Dane

Are you sure you need a broadband connection? If you get a phone plan with free data (like https://www.oister.dk/mobilabonnement/t ... r-fri-fri/) and use your phone as mobile hotspot, wouldn't it be a much cheaper solution?

Anyway, what happened in your life besides money?

Re: DutchGirl's journal

Great to read about your progress, but hard to read that you think that not working equals "doing nothing". There are so many better and more fullfilling things to do than to be employed. You can study and gain new knowledge about whatever you desire, make smaller and bigger projects of yo...

Re: Introducing myself: HappyDane - or working on it:-)

Welcome from yet another Dane to yet another Dane. The more the merrier, but I did not get this one : - If we can adjust our monthly spendings to the average spendings of a Danish family, then we should be close to FI according to the 4% rule. Thus, if you just adjust your spendings to say 50% of th...
