Re: What is Minimum Head Tax and/or Price of Liberty?

There are many areas in BLM and National Forests where you will basically never get asked by Rangers to move along. You can drive your camper or whatever there and park. These days, there are a lot of options with cell towers near, so you can get fast internet data. There are also a handful of place...

Re: Solid REITs?

I just bought some O, OHI, WPC, and SBRA. They all look like pretty good buys right now as far as I can tell (which isn't actually all that far)

Others that looked interesting but that I didn't research as much and didn't buy: VTR, LHO, EPR, GEO, HPT

Re: Investments Trade Log

Bought some O in my Roth. (most of the money I used was from a conversion from Traditional to Roth, to start my ladder, and that all came from dividends from stocks in the Traditional). And made these changes in my Traditional to push up my dividend income there: - Sold a chunk of VYM. (I bought it ...

I've been using google voice for years. You can use it (both texts and calls) on the internet with your computer. Every once in a while, a place will not want to use an internet based number, but that happens very rarely.

Here's a summary of where I went in May. New Blog Post: May 2017 Adventures https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4283/34942004482_fccbdbfb85_z.jpg Sedona, Grand Canyon, my favorite campsite ever (along the Colorado River, pictured above), and Zion National Park (maybe my favorite place ever)

Re: Joining the French Foreign Legion.....

Why do you want to enter combat? These days, you don't get shit for winning. The mental downsides are becoming much better understood or at least openly shared. I could see some motivation when you had some slight chance of getting to totally pillage a city. But really, what's in it for you?

Re: Am I being unfair?

One more thing to keep in mind: by doing this, you are acting as a sort of "housing steward" by ensuring that this house has someone living in each of the bedrooms. There are millions of empty bedrooms in the US, just sitting there wasting the materials and labor they were built with, the energy it ...

@C40 Those are some cool pictures and videos. What kind of a drone/camera is that? And can you see what you are filming in real time on a screen, or is it more like a GoPro? It's a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced. They come with a camera on them. It can film at 1080p at, idk, 30 or 60 frames per second. It ...

Yeah, Wyoming looked super amazing.

I've left Zion N.P. for a few days while the memorial day weekend crowds are there. Tomorrow, they'll go back to work, and I'll go back to the park :-)

Re: Best lifestyle jobs for early retirees?

Another of my fantasy lifestyle jobs is a long-term house sitting gig in some nice place 'up in the hills' with a pool, a nice view, good roads to bike on, super attractive neighbors, etc. I imagine that if you get a good "in" with some people with either really nice houses or houses in really nice ...

Re: brute journal

A lot of studies with rats are totally inaccurate. For example, things like putting a rat in a plain box all alone with absolutely nothing to do, and then adding a button that gives them cocaine. Of course they're going to use the cocaine when that's the only thing to do besides staring at a wall or...

Also, I've been meaning to learn more about fats, and to adjust my fat intake accordingly. I haven't learned that much so far. I think BRUTE knows much more than me about this, so if BRUTE has any advice on if/how I should eat better fats, I'd appreciate it. Here's where nearly all my current fat in...
