Re: Western Red Cedar's Journal
I still think most people would probably do well with some form of experimentation, but maybe taking the big leap is necessary in certain circumstances? For sure, I agree. Also, a lot of people are in a situation where they don't have adequate room for decent experiments due to FTE - their options ...

I recently watched this video re: selling courses and thought it was thought-provoking. My hustle involves selling courses (although at the moment we're focused on consulting and implementation) and we've noticed the same trends he's talked about, namely really low finish rate for courses. One idea ...

What I'm struggling to understand is... If one wants to have the outputs of a typical home garden (carrots, peppers, herbs, lettuce etc), and "do permaculture" for the garden and beyond... would you design raised beds into your bigger design/site plan? Do you toss seeds randomly on Hugelk...

The simple and practical guide to what permaculture is is the post above this one. FWIW my ERE education helped me recognize permaculture in the way Jacob just described it, and so while I know a little *about* it I get that to *do* it I have little choice but to start where I’m at, which is approxi...

I'm talking about this in the context of travel, but I think it applies to many areas of life. Dreaming about starting a homestead? Take a couple months to volunteer on a couple farms and/or homesteads to see how you like it. Thinking about hiking the PCT? Try to go out for a couple weeks and see w...

Nah the framebag was perfect, I honestly wouldn't change a thing. So glad I went rolltop vs. zipper. The tarp and bivy did great their second season out. Next trip in the desert I'm going to try to find something I can bring with to use as a pole for the tarp just in case a storm catches me out away...

37:07. Mile times of 7:24 and 8:41. Alright, whippersnapper, well done putting down the tech softie. But watch your six, there's an old guy out there with his eye on your trail and nothing better to do than train every day in the harsh mountains of wild California... I got mile times of 9:28 and ??...

I think while Hagen's content tends to be more theoretical/high level, he does bring on some guests who talk more practical/what can we do type content, and he always ends his episodes asking guests what people can do in their lives. I seems that he talks more about wanting to have practical informa...

Honestly I think if I were in your situation I'd go with the generator and maybe take an afternoon to install a legit penetration of some sort so you can easily get power inside without cracking a door or window. I'd only go PV if I also were trying to build and operate a parallel off-grid PV system...

Re: Suomalaisen Päiväkirja
Are the PV systems you're looking at paired with DC air conditioning units ( like this )? Or are they kits billed to meet the surge amp requirements of the AC window unit? (I'm sure you're on to this but it's not enough to match inverter rating to operating wattage of equipment. Most compressors sur...

Are you confused about why you got fired because they didn't tell you (weird!), or because they told you and it didn't make sense to you? Either way, I highly recommend figuring it out - there's likely valuable insight contained in grokking what happened as well as you can. Sorry to hear about that ...

Infrastructure Asset Management might be a less ambiguous term and serve as a starting point for strategy. The basic premise of infrastructure asset management is to intervene at strategic points in an asset's normal life cycle to extend the expected service life, and thereby maintain its performan...

Is it fair to say that "identifying and avoiding ways of slowing [yourself] down is the process of self-actualization"? I like that. Someone recently asked me how I felt I'd changed over the past several years, and I replied that it felt less like "I" changed and more like I'd s...

What'd I miss? In the WL Thread I asked about speedrunning and more or less got my ass handed to me, which was nice. (Not sarcasm) imo I phrased my question clumsily and didn't represent how I actually think about it accurately*, but that's fine. I didn't get the answers I wanted, but the answers I...

I'm surprised you find that ENFP (NeFiTeSi) takes effort. They're like my favorite people. Oh I *like* ENFPs quite a lot, I just need to soak my head in a bucket of solitude after. The tone of my comment might have had more to do with having dated and lived in a 68sf microhouse with one for three y...

That's also a case where the masking remains adaptive. The juice is worth the squeeze. It lets me more fully embody the overall existence I'd like. The connection is worth it. Insofar as the 'real me' feels completely internal, total unmasking seems like I'd just reduce to a guy-shaped obelisk. Tha...
