Re: Jake's journal

Update: About a month into renovations. So much more work than initially anticipated.. With this being said it would have been impossible to do with just myself, especially while working full time, going to university, and mantaining sanity. 1. We ripped up ALL the floor. And half the subfloor in a ...

Re: Jake's journal

Yeah I've never had a house of my own so I'm incredibly eager to get started on making something I own mine. Current rent expenses: 1,100 between four in a two bedroom apartment. The gentle giant roommate (he's 6'7) and his girlfriend currently live with us. The place we found is rather typical for ...

Re: Jake's journal

Big news!!! I bought a mobile home, in cash with a $4,000 loan from dad payable when I sell the place. They asked 20,000 and we settled on 17,000. The average price for mobile home ranges 15,000-35,000 in the area. It's livable now, but with 3-5k investment I'm thinking it will be worth 35-40. 3 br ...

Update: Investments: $20,000 invested in a start up. Looking three to five years out for any sort of return. It's a dental product going through the FDA approval process. Could yield nothing, or quite the nest egg. Current estimated value: $1725 invested in wealthfront. Mirroring the s&p500 amon...

Re: Trump - Clown Genius

The video is an example of an alternative voting system. A way to avoid ending up with just two candidates/parties. The video advocates rounds of voting and being able to vote for multiple candidates in order of sequential preference. Ergo if your first choice in candidate is a 3rd party your 1st vo...

This is where I'd like to see our political system go.

Something more akin to France? Although seems they might be making 'France Great Again' as well.

+1 to Halfmoon

My rule of thumb.. Is your situation youre in /the people you're around helping you to grow where you want/need the most? If it isn't then change Is necessary.

Define in what aspect do you wish to grow.

PS: Always a couch available for a fellow ERE'er if Montana seems cool for you.

I also have a dream of owning a hostel. That started back last year when I was bumming around Croatia. I love the idea, but without settling down for awhile it's Not feasible. A good AirBNB would be a great middle ground. That's where I want to be at.

I absolutely appreciate the criticism, Halfmoon. I'm quite happy to see you posting here, as your first journal about just posting and not worrying about perfecting it made me create this journal. My occupation: I work as a casino attendant. For those of you unfamiliar with small quirky casinos they...

I'm in the middle of the novel right now actually.. At my uni many classes require you to read the book, because he made quite the impact here in Bozeman. I know a few people who followed the same roadtrip as well.

Great stuff man. Your Nicaragua trip has me itching to travel again!! I miss the freedom and sense of adventure. I'm also living somewhere quite frigid (just south of the border for you). How's your Spanish? Do the locals speak English well? Are there a ton of mosquitoes/ aggravating insects? I've h...

Re: Time frugality

I'm finding a great deal of satisfaction renting my apartment right now. My rent is considerably cheaper than most. Living out of an RV with hookups would actually be considerably more expensive. The property management company takes care of everything we need done free of cost. Life is good :) The ...

I think I'll jump ahead to current day for a little while. I need to round up some pictures for the next bit of the story and that requires me getting my laptop back from my mom ah!! I'm in Bozeman, although admittedly Missoula is much cooler if you're not a 1) skier 2) ice climber 3) cowboy So the go to here is Granny's donuts, record shop is Cactus Records, and for a good laugh from a retired biker is the Grateful Shed. Missoula is one of the better combinations of nature and ...

Interesting, I found MMM through ERE. Just starting to read from the beggining of his posts. I find the ERE community more thoughtful, but my thought is that MMM is certainly more relatable to the general public.

Chapter 1? Maybe?

I grew up in Cincinnati with a struggling single mom (undiagnosed bipolar) with massive A.D.D. and a very hard working entrepreneur dad (remarried). I lived with mom growing up, and took care of her emotionally and increasingly physically and fiscally. Through high school mom had a traveling job so ...

Hi all, I'm Jake, the kind of guy you'd want to get a beer with. I'm the dreaded (or so seems around here) ENFP personality type with a strong affinity to surround myself with logical and highly capable people. As an ENFP I am an affluent social networker, I love people. I connect people like it's m...
