Re: Just Gravy

Dear B&G, thanks to WRC and your review of Permission to Feel I have come to your humble and sweet home. I will take a while and digest your journal slowly. Thanks a lot for putting your words into it.

Re: Western Red Cedar's Journal

Happy EREBirthday! I'm glad to read how your work, your physical and mental health (and DW's) are improving. On the work part, having the optionality to pull the plug or taking a sabbatical are great news. Exercise, nature and music are magic for both mind and body. I also take your advice on Permis...

Re: The Making of a Renaissance Hobo

Oh, man! Thanks a lot for the advice! I find very interesting that you plan to learn some indigenous language, which puts you directly into its own culture and doesn't just make you a language-learner but being part of a "tribe". Just for curiosity, why are you so interested in begin an et...

Re: The Making of a Renaissance Hobo

Thanks for your explanation and the video of Mr Krashen! I have heard of the comprehensible input before thanks to my wife who is spanish teacher, but have never stopped to understand it. How have you applied it directly to your own language learning? How are your advances in indigenous languages? R...

Re: The Making of a Renaissance Hobo

Dunkelheit is a very cool word. Me enamoré de la lengua cuando tenía 12 años. Crecí cerca de un barrio mexicano en Chicago y fui semi adoptado por ellos. So you have mexican roots, qué onda! I can understand your passion for languages (before finding your journal I didn't know what a ethnoecologist...

Re: The Making of a Renaissance Hobo

Gracias por comentar. Por que te llamas "oscuridad" en aleman? Before moving to Germany years ago I searched for "favourite word in german" in google and I got Dunkelheit, which I loved. Oscuridad no me gusta tanto en español. Tengo curiosidad, ¿cómo y por qué aprendiste español...

I joined the forums about three years ago. This is my 1000th post and an overview of what I've learned in those three years... ...which has been A LOT! I fell in love with this journal since the first day I began reading it, but today I have to tell you that you surpassed every expectation I had. I...

It's great to read you again and see that everything goes well in your life+body, as well as in the new job. Those work-leisure trips make you seem semi-EREd, and having your wife by your side is another extra point. Don't you feel sometimes stressed by accumulating so many kilometres around the glo...

The article inspired me to price out a Dexcom G6 - looks like around $900 to start, then $350 a month for sensors. Ouch.
Ouch, ouch, a little bit pricey.

$350 a month perpetual using Jacob's formula buys you an additional pancreas to improve glucose disposal

Re: What I Spend

The data I really want at a consumer level is continuous glucose monitoring. I try to adopt behaviors that limit highs and extreme lows, but it is all qualitative. I am sure having the objective metric available would trigger behavior changes. My a1c was fine last year, but I think managing blood s...

Re: Lump sum vs. DCA

IMHO the market doesn't care about the assumptions. You can build a zillion of different scenarios and in some years maybe none of them correspond to reality. Anyway, I wouldn't put all my money in the current market although John Bogle appears at my front door. Another option is to invest a % of th...

Talking about Heavy Metal, I just did a very un-ERE thing and booked two premium tickets for the upcoming italian Metallica date in May in Milan for the wife and I.
Can't wait.

Dear FBeyer, I've read your journal all in one go and have to admit it is great, you are really GREAT! Hi Seppia, your new apartment looks great! The building's fachade gives it an historical appearance. I was also a little bit disappointed when you said the church bell doesn't belong to you . Are you planning to live there in a more or less nearby future? If we visit northern Italy we would...

Giving a second think to the fund/ETF advantatges in Spain: in wich cases might you want to move the investments to another fund? If you are a very long term index investor, shouldn't your changes be minimal to none? And about accumulation vs distribution, Seppia makes an interesting point.... PS: ...
