Re: Nick Halden's Journal

Finally an update from my side. I have not been here for over 3 years. These three years were very tough, physically renovating our house, having two more children, and working like crazy. No surprise I mentally also went down the drain, even though I already mentioned the first warning signs in my ...

Re: Nick Halden's Journal

Hadn't read your journal before and saw the pictures in your last post and immediately went. "hmm that house looks dutch." Then checked the first post for confirmation XD. House is looking great though. How have you been enjoying it now that the big renovations seem to be mostly done? We'...

Re: Nick Halden's Journal

Update: Financial Base salary increased by 5%. Now slightly over 4,000 eur/month. Quite happy with it, although I am used to higher raise percentages. Currently living off a 33% savings rate, but the real estate I now own is probably increasing in value much faster especially because most savings ar...

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands

Since there hasn't been a reply in two weeks the suggested dates are cancelled. The offer to host remains though.

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands

If I were to host the meeting, who would join (assuming we will figure out a date)? Again, the location would be at my 'farm' located somewhere between Zwolle and Giethoorn. Suggestion: we could have a firepit going, maybe a BBQ, everyone could bring some food, I could bring drinks. Also we could ta...

Just an update from a renovation perspective, not so much from a financial one. New house is coming together quite nicely. Re: Rube's journal

Great you took the time to update again. The only thing I would like to add is something I heard on a biggerpockets podcast a week ago - you probably do not want the money itself, you want what money can bring you. Like the vacation you mentioned. Of what use is a million euro's if you still work a ...

Re: DutchGirl's journal

I love how you never seem to cut on charitable givings. I personally try to do to the same thing but nowhere near the numbers that you do. The 240k goal seems quite low but reasonable if you can live off 10k a year. But don't you feel some sort of dependency on your boyfriend that way? Maybe I do no...

Re: Meetup in the Netherlands

I'm also up for it. Maybe we can meet more in the south of the NL this time, and near a train station? Perhaps Breda, or Eindhoven? Well I live in the North (slightly above Zwolle) so preferably not :) But if everyone attending is from the south of NL this year then I guess it would be fair to have...

Q1 2018 Results Net Worth: unknown. Sold the house and finally acquired the property. Now living temporarily in a mobile home while we are renovating the primary residence for our own use. The rental properties are doing fine, all tenants are happy with the new situation and we should be getting our...

Anyone interested in scheduling another meet-up in The Netherlands? The last one was quite fun and almost a year passed by already :)

Re: Nick Halden's Journal

Haven't posted in a while, but we're still on track. 2017 results so far: Net Worth: 40,000 € (+25k since last year) Our house is up for sale now since our plans to acquire the new property seem to move forward. This is the property I mentioned earlier that contains 4 houses, where we will live in t...

Re: Nick Halden's Journal

It does conflict with my financial goals but I consider it a work related investment, like a good suit. It is the local equivalent of the financial Times, but it comes with a lot of extra magazines and papers that are essential for me to gain insights for my work. I was recently promoted to a c-leve...

Re: Nick Halden's Journal

Hi all, I don't have much time to write as I am about to leave for a business trip to the US soon. Wanted to post a journal entry earlier but the forum seemed down? Anyways last month was not great. Did not hit the 20k NW as planned. We had to bring our kids to daycare a lot the month before, we pai...
