Re: Want to fight climate change? Have fewer children

I agree with Dragline. This documentary(1) addresses the decrease in babies per women as life conditions improve. Children per woman in India is 2.45 (2) this is the 2.5 kids of America back in the day and it will continue to decrease unless some large percentage of the population dies off. (1) http...

Re: How do you get low cost dental care?

I used to get tons of cavities that required annual work. Then I started flossing twice a day and spending 2 minutes brushing slowly as I cover my entire teeth area with soft small ovals and I stopped getting cavities. I almost never go to the dentist and this is what I think is truly low cost denta...

Re: Budgeting for Extortion

@Dragline I always expected nicer outfits to be more of a target. Were you going full on polished suit everywhere you went? Maybe you present yourself in a regal manner.. @JennyPenny I wasn't expecting this to happen in USA. Thanks for the insight that this isn't strictly an expat problem. @Sclass I...

I also find smoking unpleasant. A volcano vaporizer is more enjoyable. For the doses to effect cancer, it requires eating the oil as other methods won't get enough into the system. I'd stay away from the synthetics. They tend to be a focus of 1 or 2 cannabinoids and have much higher chances of causi...

Re: Tattoos, Piercings?

No tats. I had 2 ear piercings that my sister convinced to me get a long time ago, I'm pretty sure they've closed back up by now but my left ear hurt for years when I touched the piercing spot. I think it had a light infection that went away. Tats and piercings cost money and time, start up and ongo...

Budgeting for Extortion

Does anyone else mentally put away $50-200 as extortion money when traveling to countries with potentially corrupt government officials?

@Jean
Are you referring to the Tax Credit?
I hadn't thought about the fact that it acts as an incentive until this point.

Here's an article to the 2 main methods of reversibility sterility: Vasalgel, the form coming to market soon hopefully. https://www.parsemus.org/projects/vasalgel/vasalgel-faqs/ RISUG, the Indian form I believe you mentioned that is also currently undergoing trials. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/...

I agree with Jacob but I'll add that anyone can develop the skills and learn to use the tools while even finding similarly interested communities (like this one) so this is a huge opportunity.

@C40

Vasalgel is still not on the market. I'm on the waiting list so I'll update when new information comes out.

Currently planned for either clinical trials or market release in 2018.

Re: Satiety and energy crashes on different diet models in specific case

@Brute Isn't your diet simply the hard part of Atkins mixed with the warrior diet style of daily intermittent fasting? I can't imagine gaining weight in this style would be easy. It's also very rigid and hard to follow. The best diet is the one you can follow for a long period of time and works for ...

Re: What Do You Eat for Weight Loss?

177lbs fasted, dry, cleansed Waist at 36.8 still I guess the week off from fasting didn't change much. Fasting is sometimes harder since going vegan, not that it was ever easy but eating 12 strips of bacon had a way of stopping hunger. Overall I'm happy with the results so far. Another 27lbs project...

Re: How do Taxes Affect the Permanent Portfolio?

It isn't different in that it is a subset of different taxation fields but the promise of the Permanent Portfolio is stable returns but these stable returns seem on par with near the lowest of equity returns after taxes. My point is that it's horribly tax inefficient when I look at it and I feel I h...

Re: How do Taxes Affect the Permanent Portfolio?

As a US citizen I am taxed on my worldwide income and legally must report any foreign assets over 10k or pay a 50% tax penalty of said foreign assets. Gold is commodity so it is taxed at the marginal rate here. If I did it from abroad I would simply have 2 governments to pay taxes to. Unless I set u...

How do Taxes Affect the Permanent Portfolio?

With gold, cash, and long-term bonds making up 75% of the Permanent Portfolio-why aren't taxes in the portfolio talked about more? These gains are taxed at the marginal rate and if hyperinflation happens, harvesting unrealized gains comes with a huge tax bill. ie-Gold costs 1400/oz pre hyper inflati...

Re: What Do You Eat for Weight Loss?

181.6lbs today. Not fasted. Waist is stable for last few weeks at 36.8" where belt would go. I took a week off from fasting last week due to stress from a business trip and too many work things happening at once. Did an 18 hour fast on Sunday and doing a 20 hour fast today. Going back to 2 24hr fast...

Re: Satiety and energy crashes on different diet models in specific case

Try eating a small highly satisfying meal slowly once your fast ends then go do something else. It helps for this to be a social meal in my experience (not dinner out but picnic snack on hike). I wouldn't say I'm low fat in my diet. I eat whatever I want and fast twice per week for 24 hours. It work...

Why would you buy books with an endless free supply? Every book not bought is another $5-20 working for you. The tree hugging, ted-talking, bike riding MMM is meant to be bossy and opinionated. I pointed out the post more because there might be a car you could own rather than finance that would have...

Frog legs aren't quite my thing but fishing sounds fun. I may have to look into that, Yosemite is still crowded and hot for another month or 2, and a bit bureaucratic on permits. Aren't these the same thing?
renaissance man can come up with different solutions because of his broad skill and pick the optimal solution.
