Re: ICO Gold-rush -- Tokenize the world via Blockchain & Smart Contracts

A quick update before I am off for 3 Months trip (without laptop). First of all, I hope that everyone had a great start of 2018. From a Crypto investment point of view, so far everything goes as expected. As mentioned, 2018 will be a crazy year for this Asset domain. I ended 2017 with 1000% profit, ...

Re: Bitcoin on the rise

@Fish Although difficult, but you need to try to expand on the concept of Money. We have been growing up that fiat-currency is the only "trusted" system of exchange of value. Trust means that we have a Central Bank (although privately owned) that can control the total supply and we have a ...

Re: Dealing with Greed

@Hank -- My biggest concern is the energy usage. We're going to run up against some hard limits. I wonder about that with the conversion of everything to digital format, not just bitcoin. I couldn't resist to answer (as I respect you): You're right, if you only look at Bitcoin and how the Mining wo...

Re: Dealing with Greed

Okay, my last comment on this before I report back end of 2018. Problem is that people are trying to understand Bitcoin (and sometimes they only know Bitcoin and have no clue about other innovations in this space) by looking at it using existing concepts (e.g. how fiat money works, or how the econom...

Re: Dealing with Greed

@SavingWithBabies : As I mentioned, the real Business Value Creation will take longer (speculation comes first), it is still a young technology. However, the Technology is proven to work, and innovation goes really fast now (with all the money flowing in). There is already enough written on the poss...

Re: Dealing with Greed

Yeah. Seems more akin to the dot-com bubble than anything like tulips, beanie babies, or PokeMon or some Ponzi scheme. @Hank, your post does sound a bit scammy though.. Care to explain? This is the 1st time ever that somebody accuses me of being scammy..... I only described my honest personal opini...

Re: ICO Gold-rush -- Tokenize the world via Blockchain & Smart Contracts

Wow, what a year in Crypto domain, from 18 Billion market cap to 500 Billion!! I think it is hard to ignore this new Asset domain, and the world is now awake, so I think we will see more growth in 2018. Of course, like with all global disruptive technologies, the speculation phase will come before r...

Re: Dealing with Greed

Currently, I am considering putting in 500->1000 USD in the 2 main fiat cryptocurrencies in case they do end up being dominant forms of currency and skyrocketing in value. Enough to make a difference if they 100x but not enough for me to hurt if they go to 0. I remember seeing BTC at 200 something ...

Re: Bitcoin on the rise

In a decentralized financial world, there will be room for several coins, depending on purpose and business model. So, it is not just Bitcoin, even though that is the currency that is dominating at the moment. Technology is in the making to link these different Blockchain and currencies (including f...

Re: Bitcoin on the rise

Haha, I guess it will take some time before people see beyond Bitcoin, and understand the underlying technology and possibilities. Anyway, let's talk end of 2018 :-)

@rube : great progress! Question, how do you deal with the (virtual) capital gain tax in the Netherlands? Are there any constructions to lower the impact?

Re: Bitcoin on the rise

@Jacob : Fair enough. I just do not think that it happens so often that we are looking at a worldwide innovation that creates a total new global market. 200 billion is perhaps not a lot yet, but the market is still shaping up. Last time we had this major wave was in the 90's (with Internet as the ma...

Re: Bitcoin on the rise

With all respect, if you compare the current 200 billion market of more than 1000 crypto currencies and related new business models with this single liberty silver experiment, then I am a bit surprised. Normally you are much more thorough in your research, and if you research what is going on with ...

Re: Henk's journey thru life

Social side: basically it feels sometimes (in the rural areas) that you go back 40-50 years in time. Which is a good thing: people are friendly, not rushed, are really interested in you, etc... Big challenge is the language, as Hungarian language is not related to the main languages, so you have to ...

Re: Henk's journey thru life

Well, ERE life is very easy-going. As long as you do not earn money in Hungary, you do not have to pay (yearly) income taxes. There is also no taxes on wealth (like bonds or shares) as long as they are not in country. So, you basically live almost anonymously. Besides that, you can live on a low bud...

Re: Henk's journey thru life

Hi everyone, still happy in Hungary. House is now almost fully renovated. Learned a lot by doing my part. I do not miss work at all. My previous employer emailed me that they want me back for a job of 2 Months, but I declined. All this hassle for a few more USD will not change my life. Anyway, I was...

Re: ICO Gold-rush -- Tokenize the world via Blockchain & Smart Contracts

As they say, do some proper research before investing. For instance, I analyzed TenX (PAY coin) inside out, white papers, reviews, direct talk to founders, followed every competitor, etc.. My conclusion, real potential and value build-up over time. Bought 2 Months ago, now 1000% gain ! Okay, the mar...

Re: ICO Gold-rush -- Tokenize the world via Blockchain & Smart Contracts

After a break of the "Crypto Market" of 1.5 Months (Mid June till end July) in which a correction of more than 50% happened, the fun continues and we already passed the last record of mid-June (110 Billion overall Market cap), and are now around 125 Billion USD. For a personal portfolio, y...

Re: Where is the DOW going?

If people believe that USD is toast, then you should consider cryptocurrencies (or gold of course). Anyway I stepped aside a half year ago (took out 50% of stock market portfolio) and I decided to wait for a real correction, which still can be 2 years away, or 2 months, nobody knows, so it is a bit ...
