Re: the animal's journal

Hey Animal! I was curious: Have you ever thought of posting the same type of content you post here in the forums on your blog as well, perhaps in another section? I enjoy your Arctic Essays (I have the blog bookmarked as a favorite on my phone :) ) but I also find your posts here to be possibly even...

Re: the animal's journal

Animal - I go through a similar thing every single winter. I think my job sucks, my life sucks, where I live sucks, etc. and then... the sun comes back! And I realize I thought everything was wrong but in fact it was just seasonal depression. Have you tried UV lamps? Maybe that would help? I can't i...

Re: the animal's journal

This may be a stupid question (probably is): how do you ski on flat land? You just keep pushing yourself? Can you go very fast doing that? Let us know when you start the new blog; can't wait to check it out! - I believe you used to have a separate blog, right? Will the new blog be at the same address?

Re: the animal's journal

I love this journal so much! Thank you so much for sharing! Very cool water setup! Any concerns the deep winter could freeze deeper than you dug the pipe?

Re: How to maintain health, fitness, and aesthetics through age 21-100?

Do we believe meat will shorten your life? I eat 0.8 grams of protein per pound of body weight and strength train 6 days a week. I often worry about this as I hear it a lot but the fact of the matter is when you get older you get weaker, thus I would think maintaining strength at younger ages (I'm 2...

Haha odds a little better than that I'd hope but definitely a lot riskier than buying stocks for sure.

Does anyone ever option trade here?

It seems like most people here take the slow and steady approach to retirement. Anyone here day trading their way to ERE?

Re: Relationship? Married? If so, why?

I'd say if you date someone 10 years and are going strong, go ahead and get some tax benefits. Otherwise I'd wait... Too many divorces occur within 5 years etc.

Hoosier Daddy's Journal

Hello all. I am sure I am one of many that logs onto this site multiple times a week but hardly ever actually posts. I thought that I might give journaling a try as I start to get into the more interesting phase of my ERE journey: I am currently 25 and work as financial analyst at a large public com...

When did debt become acceptable?

I believe America after its first couple of wars went into debt and then paid it off as quickly as they could because they understood the shackles of debt. (I'm talking like civil war days). Fast forward to today, it seems society is very comfortable (in general) with debt. Does anyone know what the...

Yeah I am thinking you're right. It seems counter ERE to pay money to protect consumer goods... Thank you for that insight.

Renters Insurance?

I was wondering if I could get your guy's opinion about renters insurance. I am currently living within biking distance of work with a rent of under $350 per month for my half. In this small town this was my only option (this area I live in I mean) that would allow me to both bike to work and not pa...

Re: Use incoming cash flow to invest or pay down student loa

Seems like it's pretty unanimous haha. At my current rate I can pay off the whole thing off by the end of 2014 so I'll just keep trucking away. Thank you all for the input!

Use incoming cash flow to invest or pay down student loans?

I am well on my way to being worthless (net zero net worth :) ) and I have about 30k left of student debt. I am selling my house and getting a bonus at work for a total of 13k (I have already moved to my new location so now moving expenses to worry about). I can either pay off this student debt with...

Re: Using ERE to Finance Vet school?

Dragline: Good insight. My end goal is to own some serious acreage so I may have to look more into Wyoming etc... JamesR: great way to think outside the box! I know here in the US where I went to school for undergrad it was 15k per year for in-state residents and like 30k for international students....
