Re: ERE Spreadsheet Templates

@chenda I have stood at my desk off and on for the last ~10 years. I am currently sitting at my desk because I came upon an opportunity I couldn't refuse. I was able to obtain a high quality and free oversized desk with drawers. It is really heavy so I keep it grounded. My previous standing incarnat...

Re: ERE Spreadsheet Templates

I created my own spreadsheet and update it several times a day. It's a lifestyle. I have multiple tabs and multiple spreadsheets. I track my cash flow, balance sheet, holdings, trading history, adjusted cost bases, all income and taxes paid (for me and my wife), car expenses, rent, dividend history,...

Re: In Praise of Doing Nothing

Restlessness could eventually set in. People also need to be stressed to survive longer. The do nothing lifestyle could quickly become go on twitter and youtube and watch the news 6-12 hours a day. The thing is you can enjoy the do nothing lifestyle for a while, then circumstances or tastes change a...

Re: The Pareto principle, minimalism, and stuff

You need to allow a bit of redundancy in ERE and minimalism. For psychological comfort and convenience. Being too efficient is a mistake. Being 80% efficient is better. Nassim Taleb believes in some redundancy.

Re: What's the status symbol for the FI/ERE crowd?

A standing work station is an absolute must have (of course if you can't stand then it doesn't, but if you can, you absolutely should). It fits perfectly into the ERE-method.

I drink a lot of dark roast black coffee. Just love it and life may not be worth living without it. Well If there was no black coffee I'd drink more tea but I lourve my black coffee.

Another status symbol, drinking your black coffee at home in front of your standing workstation, having the time to enjoy an extra cup or two, instead of drinking it in a to-go cup or thermos cup en route to work carrying your attache case.

Re: What's the status symbol for the FI/ERE crowd?

Status Symbol for ERE? Flat stomach and lean body. Cash in your trading account. Drinking Tea and Coffee on an empty stomach. Watching Podcasts like Joe Rogan and Rich Roll on anti-aging. Squandering a few dollars on trinkets at the Thrift store with your wife and daughter and then using them. Your ...

Number of Poverty, decline videos on Youtube

Just wanted to bring up the topic of just the sheer number of "decline" videos on the internet. Whether it's communities, families, malls, cities, countries, gun violence, mental health etc. There is just an unrelenting amount of theses videos (I am sure there are an unrelenting number of ...

Re: Buckminster Fuller's Energy Slaves [Comic form]

That's just it though right? Having a discussion about moving to the Nordics is different than moving there. I suppose some rich people have already set-up bunkers and others might be living off the grid already, but that is the exception rather than the norm I'd speculate. Emergency means there the...

Re: Buckminster Fuller's Energy Slaves [Comic form]

Our PM has declared there is a "climate emergency" https://thetyee.ca/Opinion/2019/06/21/Trudeau-Climate-Policy-Inadequate/ But when it comes to one of Taleb's points of wisdom, "don't look at what people say, look at what people do." How many Scientists from the middle lattitude...
