Re: Smelly Swiss Dilettante
i have no idea how. You seem to know and enjoy dealing with property/land in Switzerland. You could find deals for others to invest in. Profit by either getting a commission from the transaction or sourcing fee, alternatively even some kind of arrangement where you manage it for them. Pitch it to o...

Wealth preservation strategies in times of instability
Hello, I'm looking at how to best protect your wealth in case of local instability such as failed states, civil war, national economic collapse, or even simple political instability such as Brexit, etc. For example what precautions would you take to preserve your wealth if you lived in following pla...

Re: EDC porn
@Ego - Your requirements look similar to mine and I'd recommend to have a look at Black Diamond headlamps. I was looking for something waterproof, taking standard batteries, powerful main light + small red LED for non-intrusive illumination in hostels, reading at night, etc.. I've ended up with Blac...

Re: Retiring and going to med school... What to invest in and when to pull the trigger?
From what I can see, OP would need to be resident in Scotland for a year before applying. Living expenses are definitely lower than London, but living in a city with a decent university is not substantially cheaper than living elsewhere in the UK (said as a former student of one of the universities...

Re: Retiring and going to med school... What to invest in and when to pull the trigger?
Yes, language could be a problem as it would take you about a year to learn to sufficient level if starting from scratch. I would seriously investigate a possibility of establishing a residence in Scotland and then study there for 2k/year. Both, Edinburgh and Glasgow universities are among the top i...

Re: Retiring and going to med school... What to invest in and when to pull the trigger?
Personally, I would repay the debt and focus on achieving financial independence asap. As for the med school, once you're FIRE, you can move to another country where tuition is lower or free while providing decent education. Having EU citizenship would obviously help, but even as US citizen you can ...

@jacob: what sort of capacity do you need, does it has to be portable, do you intend to use it mainly for offline/offsite backup or redundancy?

Re: Schooling in Europe: Worth it?
Why would you think a country that has been in the middle of what you describe "doesn't understand geopolitics"? For similar reasons you wouldn't want to take a self-defense classes from a person that was bullied their whole life and never stood up for themselves.... they were in the midd...

Re: Schooling in Europe: Worth it?
I would advise you not to study geopolitics in Prague for several reasons: 1) Czech Republic doesn't understand geopolitics Czech Republic and its historical predecessors were for the most part a vassal state with no control over their own destiny, let alone any sort of geopolitical ambitions. Czech...

<t>Hello Everyone,<br/> I was just wondering if you include mortgage principal repayment in your savings rate calculation? In other words - do you consider principal repayment as savings for purposes of ERE?<br/> At first I thought that mortgage on a house you live in is an expense and can't be ther...
