Hi everyone,
I am from Toronto, ON but I am here in Brisbane until December 5, 2018. I am currently on a one-year sabbatical. I would be interested in meeting other Brisbanites who are part of the ERE community!

Those charts look familiar! I saw something like that on the Crawling Road blog. Did you share your charts there too?

Re: Average age of members?
Almost 32 though I am a still a few years away from being FI. I started reading the ERE blog back in 2008. I guess I'm getting old.
I will say though that I own the first copy of the ERE book that Jacob has signed.

Ah, the love bug! It hits you when you least expect it. I've been happily dating a guy for the past 9 months. Good work on the savings too.

Way to go buddy! This is a timely post as I will be opening up trust accounts for my step-kids today who are 10, 13, and 15, respectively. I wish I had a mentor like myself when I was their age!

Re: At the top of the S-curve lies, guilt?
+1 @ Ego I would say the same for Olympic athletes. Think of how much time and energy those athletes put into training only to get 2nd place. How many people, without using Google, even remember the gold medallist for any event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics? I used to be a perfectionist when I was in...

Re: 10 years of IEA outlooks
What a fascinating discussion! I find the part about the IEA backpedalling on its views very interesting. Ultimately, I am not very optimistic that its changing viewpoint will have any impact on the industry or people's behaviour. I still see people burning up fuel like no tomorrow. I guess the only...

Seattle Meetup? November 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12?
I know this is last minute but would anyone like to meet up in Seattle on any of the dates of above? I will be in flying into the city on November 8, 2014 and leaving for Portland on November 12, 2014.
Let me know what you think. I will be staying in a hostel downtown.

Great article in Forbes about being frugal!
This was a great article on two roommates saving money and living frugally. I really liked how positive the article was about living simply. I also have a soft spot for the article because it is showcasing two people from my home province of Alberta. :) http://www.forbes.com/sites/laurashin/2014/08/...

Re: An article on a frugal fellow in Toronto.
Are they justifing high prices by saying its doable? Or that its ok to get a mortgage at 4x gross income? This article screams "getting frothy" to me. Hey Toska! The real estate prices in Toronto (and other parts of Canada) are crazy. The cap rates are 2.5% or less for single-detached hom...

Hey everyone.
Sorry for the late reply. I was out of the city and didn't have a chance to check the forum. I hope you were able to meet-up. If not, I'm back in town and can set something up.
Cheers!
