Re: Trump - Clown Genius

Agreed, we have a horrible voting system I disagree. In our system, only swing States matter. Since I live in a blue by 2:1 margin state, I have never been bothered by a candidate. Here in WA, even primary candidates don't show up, usually. Trump was here once, I don't think Clinton could find us o...

Re: Harbringer of a CDN housing market collapse? Or nothing

Here's a bit about how this works in the States, for reference. I get a mortgage with Chase at 4%. Chase bundles my loan with a bunch of other loans at 4%, and sells them to Fannie Mae. (Fannie Mae sets the parameters of the loans they will buy in a package. This is where the term "conforming" comes...

Re: Biased news

Or, as I have done, limit your news inputs to articles linked in posts you read. News rarely references anything I can do anything about. Outside my circle of control, and circle of influence, usually means also outside my interests. It is good to have a general idea of what is going on, but most ne...

Re: Harbringer of a CDN housing market collapse? Or nothing

So, I read the article, and have some questions you probably can't answer. First, the article went on about a possible run on the bank. This makes me ask, is there no central bank set up to be a lender of last resort? Is there no mortgage wholesaler, similar to Fannie Mae or Freddy Mac? If no to BOT...

Re: Biased news

That pretty much sums up my issue with the media. But, since we make the media out of blue journalism students, taught by blue professors, trained by blue journalists, reporting to blue editors, living in blue counties of blue States, I don't see a fix in my lifetime.

Riggerjack, that view changes nothing except *who* is being deceived.
Who is being deceived is the critical issue here. The OP was full of guilt over being part of the deception. This changes if the OP realizes who is deceived...

Every difference is quantifiable, far fewer are attributable. 2.6% increase in revenue from 2011 to 2016... What else was going on then? I'm not saying marketing has no effect. I'm saying there is an entire profession dedicated to claiming credit for every improvement, and nobody pushing the other s...

Where they don't, the soils are rocky and too well drained to support larger plants. But we gave lots of glacial till he...

Re: Telecommuting: why is not widespread?

Agency problem. As a business owner, you hire managers to hire and manage the people needed to generate profits. Those managers are not partners, and improvements beyond a certain threshold do not benefit those managers. Managers are the tool you use to keep an organization going. They aren't paid t...

Re: Revenue Management...Evil?

The other side of this is how effective you believe this to be. I believe in human agency. The right and ability of competent humans (legal competence, not so much actual competence) to choose their own solutions. Such people are not likely to conform to the models, and in my experience, most people...

I'm still new at posting pics. But the first link is a picture of a road I cut in, 3-4 years ago. It was bare earth. The next is a pic of my front yard, from the street. The 3rd is my new neighbor's yard. Last fall, it looked like my front yard, but some heavy equipment fixed that. Now, if he does n...

I understand you haven't looked too hard at homesteading, but what halfmoon did was far beyond letting it regrow. But that is because she wanted more than just a regrown clear-cut. Or not far enough out of control. At a auction, we found a few modular monitor stands, that mount to horizontal surfaces. So now my wife sits in her recliner, 2 cats on lap, mouse on armrest, the monitor swings over the cats. The monitor stand swings off the bookcase to her left, allowing easy acces...

I've canned about 100 people in my career. Some were just in the wrong place, wrong time, others were just in the wrong jobs. Which are you? Let go right after tax season, could be timing. But when I was making personnel decisions, it was always with the goal of long term team development. Even when...

Don't. It is that simple. Don't deal with rumors, or the vapid people who live by them. Life is full of real challenges, there is no reason to waste your life on chasing shadows, or rumors. Also, as with pranks, reacting attracts more of the same. You are here. This is because your values don't alig...

Re: Trump - Clown Genius

I can't believe anyone is still talking about this. Russian influence in American politics is nothing new. Look at the changes in our prints' portrayal of Hitler when Stalin and he were carving up Eastern Europe, vs the portrayal after Germany attacked Russia. Do you think the radicals of the 60-70s...
