<t>Reverse perspective: I was lacto/ovo vegetarian, and occasionally vegan, my entire life until this year. When I started eating meat, my food prices shot up dramatically. <br/> This is perhaps because I insist on high-quality food (no factory farmed anything if I can help it, I am lucky to live in...

<t>@Dragline, this is what I have been doing, mainly because I am both risk-averse and indecisive. I have student loans at a similar rate, and almost enough cash to pay them off entirely, which would be very nice because it's guaranteed, but the flip side of that is opportunity cost, what if somethi...

<t>He'd answer a weather/sports question and then ask something like, so what do you think the end result of entropy will be, complete disorder or what? What about the 2d law of thermodymamics? What do you think? Drawing a blank stare he'd say, ok, what do you think about the situation in Jordan? <b...

<t>Well, I can't quite relate to some of what you INFs experience, because as extrovert I find it very easy to speak to strangers in the grocery store, on the bus, at the park, anywhere online, etc. I do think shallow interactions are worthwhile and fill an important emotional role.<br/> But this<br...

@dragoncar: I get the feed and concur that it is adorable, but can't identify exactly what, qualitatively, makes it so. That said, subscriptions are antithesis to the spirit of ERE, right? ;)

<t>I found that simple practice helped a lot with my perfectionism. That is, I have a tendency to doubt myself and as a result I don't present, when what I really need to do is just "ship" [for products, "do" for actions] even when I feel it's incomplete. For example, in writing, it is much better t...

<t>@jennypenny: I thought I would really miss paper products but I hardly noticed the change. I just added another bin for dirty rags next to the laundry and it isn't much hassle at all. I think the micro can be motivating, which is sometimes more urgent than efficiency.<br/> Mirwen: good luck! I ca...

I just got power back, it was OK but colder than I'd like (night time temperatures around 25F, it was definitely colder than 55F indoors). I was OK on water and food but I guess I need a better sleeping bag/different sweaters.

Chickens for sure, but maybe goats? They are small, eat lots of things, produce milk or are edible themselves, and surely cold-hardy? They seem to be the creature of choice in many developing nations.

<t>For lighting, it really is important to have the best system you can afford. Depends on whether you need "be-seen" (where there's streetlights) or also "see" (totally dark rural roads) lights, but from strictly a traffic safety POV I just don't think most flashlights or small blinkies are bright ...
